This page lists translations of Ford’s books into languages other than English. The references given are to the original translated editions, although many have subsequently been issued several times by different publishers. The translated titles are reproduced below in their respective languages (and alphabets) – it is hopefully straightforward on most browsers to generate a translation back to the English equivalent.

The Good Soldier
It is no surprise that The Good Soldier has been translated more times than any other Ford book, with 28 translations into 19 languages listed in the table below. Several languages have more than one translation, perhaps reflecting the difficulty of accurately capturing the linguistic nuances of the original. The translated titles mostly stick to variations of The Good Soldier: A Tale of Passion, although a few revert to Ford’s earlier title of The Saddest Story.

The Parade’s End tetralogy
Parade’s End is the second most translated series of books, with 11 languages covered in the tables below. Note that some versions are incomplete, often consisting of just the first two books, which perhaps did not sell well enough to justify proceeding with the series. Only German has more than one translation of the complete tetralogy.
There are two “omnibus” translations of the complete tetralogy in a single volume, listed below. Otherwise the following subsections list the translations of the individual books in the series.

Apart from those listed above, only two of Ford’s other novels appear to have been translated. A Call has two Italian translations, and The Rash Act has Italian and Spanish translations, although it’s sequel Henry for Hugh does not appear to have been translated at all.
