LAST POST will be published twice yearly and is supplied free to members of the Ford Madox Ford Society.

Last Post was conceived as a replacement to the annual series entitled International Ford Madox Ford Studies, which reached a natural end with its fifteenth volume. The Ford Society wanted to continue and extend that project, to open out the conversation and attract new readers and new contributors. Last Post was envisaged as a meeting-place in print, not just for Ford specialists but for those interested in other modernist writers as well as in the cultural, social and political contexts of Ford’s life and work. With more informal pieces beside the scholarly essays and creative non-fiction, whether concerned with expatriate lives in Paris, women’s rights, Sussex smallholding or Edwardian politics, Last Post: A Literary Journal is intended to provide just that kind of Fordian meeting-place for conversation, comment and criticism.

We are always interested in hearing from prospective contributors, whether offering complete drafts, proposals or suggestions. We are also keen to secure more personal responses to Ford’s writings, not excluding creative writing inspired by Ford, as well as short news items such as overlooked Fordian references, mentions of Ford in the media and future conferences. Likely reviewers of new books relevant to Last Post’s areas of interest – broadly, Ford and his contemporaries, particularly comparative and contextual studies – are welcome too.
